NE Backpack Lunch Program’s annual community service and remembrance event for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Inviting Friends and Families to our Ninth Annual Event of Community Service and Remembrance for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

In this time of uncertainty for our country and the challenges we face, let’s gather in remembrance to:

  • draw inspiration from the memory of Dr. King
  • encourage each other to pursue our dreams for our country
  • show our care for our children in need in NE Portland

After the program, join in service to:

  • help pack 825 lunch sacks for the 226 children that Backpack serves
  • create Care Cards to be tucked into the sacks
  • fold origami cranes for peace and healing
  • share our dreams with one another
  • children can take part in terrific King-related activities

You are invited to bring cans of soup and ravioli to help fill the lunch sacks or donations will be accepted, a $25 donation sponsors 12 weekend lunches!
