NECN Hosts Neighborhood Association Board Orientation:

NECN will offer a training covering skills to improve your effectiveness within your neighborhood association.  We welcome both new and  long-time board members.  This fun and interactive training will be relevant to anyone involved with their neighborhood association.

Topics include an overview of Portland’s community involvement system, NECN’s information sharing and advocacy model, board roles responsibilities and regulations, ways to make your meetings welcoming and small group discussions on common neighborhood challenges!

NECN’s Safety and Livability Team to host Josiah Hill III Clinic Healthy Homes workshop:

Monday, November 21st at 7:00pm at NECN

Come to our Healthy Homes workshop, where participants will learn simple strategies for improving the “health” of their home environment. Reduce your family’s exposure to the contaminants and chemicals that can trigger asthma, allergies and other health concerns. Win prizes, make recipes and play games while discussing healthy, cost-effective alternatives to store-bought cleaners!

The Northeast Coalition of Neighborhoods is proud to announce that we are offering another round of Solarize NE!

We are seeking applicants to serve on a RFP Selection Committee, which will evaluate proposals based on defined project goals. Please contact NECN staff Gene Lee or Benjamin Adrian at 503-823-4575.

Special Event: North Williams Community Forum
Monday, November 28, 2011 – from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m.

Location: Immaculate Heart Church, N Williams and Stanton

Based on public interest, the project team has begun work on planning a forum in which community members and City leaders can explore together how issues of privilege and exclusion relate to the process of making decisions about investment in public infrastructure.  Please contact Ellen Vanderslice, ellen.vanderslice@portlandoregon.gov or 503-823-4638, to contribute to the planning process.
