King Neighborhood to Host Farmers Market in May

farmers20market201_preview1King Neighborhood will be host to the latest Portland Farmer’s Market. The location at the King School, Park and King Neighborhood Facility will serve King and its surrounding neighborhoods. Portland Farmer’s Market (PFM) in partnership with the Northeast Coalition of Neighborhoods (NECN) under the direction of its new permanent executive director, Paige Coleman are spearheading this project.

NECN is forming a King Market Advisory Council to provide feedback to NECN on educational programming at the market and to serve as a community voice for the market. To secure the continued success of the market requires the support of weekly shoppers.

What You Can Do:

The remaining hurdle is to get an exception to the zoning of the parking lot at NE 7th and Wygant which is zoned residential, to allow the market. Please consider submitting a letter of support for the market from yourself or your organization. Letters of support from the immediate neighbors of the market, showing that this cause is worth the increased car, bike, and foot traffic. We will encourage local residents to walk, bike, and use public transit.
