will host a panel presentation about coal export
at the Rose City Park United Methodist Church at 5830 NE Alameda.
The panel will include a diverse cross-section of communities opposed to coal export. In addition to a through overview of all five coal export terminals proposed for Oregon and Washington, each panelist will speak to how coal export would impact their community. Most panelists live or work in N/NE Portland and this is a unique opportunity to hear from neighbors who have taken on the task of stopping coal export!
Breaking Down Hip Hop’s Odyssey: a presentation at McCoy Village on 9/20
On Thursday, September 20th, at 6:30 p.m. Walidah Imarisha is presenting the Oregon Humanities Conversation Project program Break It Down: Exploring Hip Hop’s Musical and Cultural Odyssey. This will be an interactive multimedia exploration of the various political, economic, and social forces that have shaped the world’s top-selling musical genre.
Write Around Portland workshop for seniors, and people with disabilities, at McCoy Village.
Write Around Portland is hosting a 10 week writing workshop for seniors and people with disabilities starting on Wednesday, September 19th. This is an opportunity to explore the power of writing and community in a safe, respectful and creative environment.
