Detrash Portland – Boise Neighborhood trash clean up event with Ex Novo

Detrash Portland needs civic minded volunteers for another trash pick up event!

We will be hosting a clean up event on Saturday September 5th to pick up litter from the streets, gutters, and drains in the North Portland Boise neighborhood. We will be meeting at the corner of the Lillis Albina Park at N Russell and N Flint Avenue by the baseball field at 10 am. From there we will provide trash grabbers, gloves, and bags to our volunteers. 

Trash pick up is an activity that complies with social distancing guidelines while at the same time benefits our city greatly. Safety is are utmost priority. We hope you can come out an help make a difference.

Masks will be required to participate in this event.  Please also dress for the weather and wear closed toed shoes. 

Ex Novo has also partnered with Detrash Portland for this event. They will be just down the street from our meeting location. Ex Novo has been gratcious enough to offer all volunteers to this event a 10% discount to any to-go orders or on site guest tabs, food, draft beer, package beer, or merchandise.

September 1st Meeting Agenda

The King Neighborhood Association will hold a regular meeting on Tuesday, September 1, from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. This will be a virtual meeting using Zoom. See at bottom for Zoom instructions. All are welcome!

  1. First agenda is the KNA Board Election. Several positions are open, including the positions of chair, co-chair, secretary, and one or more at-large positions. The election will be run by Jessica Rojas of the NECN. Once elections are concluded, the new chair can take over and run the rest of the meeting.
  2. Peter Kusyk to give presentation about 456 NE Beech Street, on the corner of NE Grand and NE Beech. The zoning for this property is CM2. The proposal is for a three-story residential building with eight units. The primary use of this building will be for a short-term hotel.
  3. Payment due request from Oregon Secretary of State
  4. Open floor for neighbors

  • Be a resident of King neighborhood
  • Be nominated by a fellow neighbor
  • Receive a majority of votes from neighbors present at the election

King Neighborhood Association Board Election on Sept. 1st

The following positions are vacant and and will be voted on during the next King Neighborhood Association meeting on September 1st:

  • Chair
  • Co-Chair
  • Secretary
  • One or more At-large member positions

If you’re interested in helping your neighborhood, consider serving on the King Neighborhood Association Board.

Due to the pandemic, elections will be held in Zoom. You need to have Zoom, a free application, installed to attend and vote. The Northeast Coalition of Neighbors (NECN) will run the election, which will be the first meeting item. NECN will explain how to elect neighbors to the Board. Board positions are for one or two years.
