For many of us, just the mention of Christmas conjures up a world of fond childhood memories.
Unfortunately, it’s not always that way for the scores of children served by SEI. Many are from broken homes, and have families who struggle through the best of times. As the economy has become tougher, their sense of hope for the future has faded.
But SEI’s integrated approach to education is renewing hope in urban youth.
SEI addresses the vicious cycle of inner-city poverty through holistic services and an emphasis on education. And although education may not seem like the most pressing issue this holiday season, for many of these kids earning a degree is their only hope. Education allows them to overcome critical barriers to success – violence, unemployment, sickness and family-crisis.
SEI breaks down these barriers every day. An amazing 100% of SEI kids graduate high school each year. But we cannot ‘go it alone.’ Your donation today will help give hope to a struggling child this holiday season:
• $25 will help pay for vital after school programs
• $50 helps us provide educational field trips
• $100 helps cover the cost of SAT prep courses
I hope we can count on your support!Tony Hopson, Sr., President and CEO
P.S. Tell a friend about this campaign and help children in need become positive, contributing citizens.

MESSAGE FROM
Curious Comedy Productions
Hello Curious Comedy Community –
Curious Comedy Theater has been growing by leaps and bounds. But, today we are asking for your help to keep thriving. We need to raise $10,000 by the end of 2010 to pay for a railing the fire inspector is requiring us to install on our mezzanine and related expenses. Luckily, the finished railing will also serve as the first step in completing and opening our mezzanine balcony. Please give what you can. Every donation large or small makes a huge difference. You can make your donation on line here at the longest link ever: https://robot.boxofficetickets.com/800-494-TIXS/WebObjects/BOTx2005.woa/wa/inspectSubprogram?id=881935&passKey=c154bd10a7
But we don’t just want to ask for things – so we are also giving back this season through our many partnerships. All shows are at 8pm, doors at 7:15pm. See www.curiouscomedy.org for more details:

Support King School and Get Your Books!
Don’t dread the holiday shopping season–it can be for a good cause! King School is holding its second-annual bookfair fundraiser at the Lloyd Center Barnes and Noble store on the 27th. That’s the Saturday after Thanksgiving from noon to 5:00pm. There will be performances by one of Cleveland High School’s choral groups; King students will read their stories; volunteers will lead fun activities for the kids; and PTA volunteers will be gift wrapping all day–open to close. All you need to do is bring your shopping list and print out a voucher to give to the cashier. The vouchers are at: www.pps.k12.or.us/schools/king/.
Every purchase you make, including the in-store cafe and e-readers, will support King’s ongoing programs that raise student achievement and enrichment. Even if you don’t have shopping to do, stop by and meet the PTA and enjoy the entertainment. Find out about how parents are striving to build bridges between the school and the larger community.
