Christmas Dinner at Memorial United Methodist Church

Hughes_web_ext_preferred_2011_XHKXSJWUJoin us on December 25 for dinner. Friends, community members, guests, travelers – all are welcome for an informal dinner and time of visiting friends and neighbors at Hughes Memorial United Methodist Church, 111 NE Failing St.

Our neighbors Michael and Matthew Little are hosting a Christmas Day potluck for all, from 11 am to 1 pm

If you have no family around, feel lonely, want some conversation , you are welcome to come and join the fun, or bring your family and come meet your neighbors!

We’ll have a variety of foods to meet a a diversity of dietary needs. We thank our neighbors, New Seasons and others who have so graciously donated some wholesome food. Bring a dish to share or just come and enjoy!

Want to help the city plan for bicycle traffic? There’s a committee for you.

The City of Portland’s Bicycle Advisory Committee (BAC) is seeking new members. The BAC has been advising city staff and elected officials on matters related to bicycling since the 1970s. Committee members meet monthly to review and make recommendations on: planning and policy documents affecting bicycling, funding priorities for bicycle-related projects and designs for specific bikeways.

The committee is made up of 13 members with full standing and up to seven alternate members. To qualify, applicants must be: an adult resident of the Portland Metropolitan area, have an interest in promoting the use of the bicycle for transportation and recreation and make a commitment to attend monthly meetings and participate in the work of the committee.

Members are appointed to 3-year terms.

Opportunity for feedback on Police Bureau discipline process.

Currently, the Portland Police Bureau is asking for the community’s feedback regarding its directives pertaining to discipline process. Because the discipline process is a serious matter, a process which directly impacts members, reflects upon the Bureau, and is of interest to diverse, external parties, the Bureau is routing this series through its public process for a second time. The Bureau will be looking at national best practices and the public’s comments in order to update these policies this fall:
