KNA Board Meeting: Collaboration and Caring for Our Neighborhood:

 A Draft Agenda

6:30    Welcome and introductions;  approval of minutes and agenda; announcements; dream-sheets.

6:45    An update from our district officer with the Portland Police Bureau.

6:55    Clayborn Collins will present his idea for a public market at the Vanport lot that sits empty at MLK & NE Alberta, with time for questions after.

7:15    KNA’s Land Use committee: an opportunity for refocus and re-visioning.

7:20    Food & our neighbors: a food security initiative for King. An introduction to the idea, and an invitation to participate in shaping its mission.

7:35    Movie in the Park 2012: Parks & Rec offers many options for add-ons to this event. What do we want the event to look like? How will we pay for it? Who will help us put all of the pieces together over the coming months?

7:50    The Portland Playhouse, and its application for a conditional use permit to use the building at 6^th & Prescott: an opportunity for the King neighborhood association to weigh in.

8:00     Katy Asher updates us on the Northeast Coalition of Neighborhood’s work in the larger inner N/NE neighborhoods.

8:05    Reaching our neighbors: our KNA communications team and its work. What are we doing, and what comes next? What does outreach look like?

8:15    Updates/continuing the discussion:

• the gentleman living on MLK Boulevard near Safeway, and neighbor concerns about his well-being.
• the weeding & planting project at the King facility parking lot, 7^th & Wygant, as organized by Diego Gioseffi: next steps.
• The Miracles Club.

8:28    Closing thoughts.

The King Neighborhood Association meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 6:30 in the King Neighborhood Facility at 4815 NE 7th Avenue, unless another location has been designated ahead of time. From the Metropolitan Alliance for Common Good:

Time to Turnout! On December 6, MACG (Metropolitan Alliance for Common Good) is holding a Health Care Reform Assembly. We need to turnout to show our power and assure that legislation that passed last year is implemented in a way that serves the needs of consumers and not the bottom line of health industry lobbyists. Dr. Bruce Goldberg, head of the Oregon Health Authority, has agreed to attend. We will call for Dr. Goldberg’s commitment to support specific recommendations to the 2011 Legislature that align with MACG’s goals of access, affordability, equity, and quality! Please mark your calendars now and spread the word. We have set a goal for 250 MACG members to attend. This is the time to show our organized people power!
