Skills for Effective Communication and Collaboration
Join NECN and Resolutions NW for an introduction to Non-Violent Communication and the work of Dr. Marshall Rosenberg. This free workshop focuses on processes for communicating and resolving conflicts in the community setting. Brownfields Redevelopment: Turn Brown Into Green

Land Use and Transportation Meeting – Mapping Workshop
This month’s regular LUTC meeting will feature a presentation from the Bureau of Planning and Sustainability’s new Comprehensive Plan online Mapping application. Learn how to use interactive mapping tools to weigh in on decisions about physical development in the City over the next 20 years. Also, save the date of December 4th for a visit to LUTC by Commissioner Steve Novick and PBOT’s new Director, Leah Treat.

Free Trees for Humboldt, Eliot and Boise Neighbors!
NECN is the fiscal sponsor for a collaborative project engaging high school students from Rosemary Anderson High School in community outreach through tree planting. Grants from the Bureau of Environmental Services and East Multnomah Soil and Water Conservation District are providing student learning opportunities and also free neighborhood trees to Humboldt, Boise and Eliot neighbors. Help Depave the King Neighborhood Facility Parking Lot
Join the King Neighborhood Association and DePave for another project fiscally sponsored by NECN and help create a bioswale and manage the heat island effect in the community gathering space south of King School.

Bee Friendly Portland Carrotmob
Get on your bee colors and join NECN small grant recipient, Bee Friendly Portland, for a Carrotmob thanking Garden Fever for taking neo-nic pesticides off their shelves and to bring some attention to the impact of pesticides on bees. They’ll have information about honey bees, native bees and how to grow a bee-friendly garden. Carrotmobs are about voting with your dollars and showing appreciation to businesses that are doing the right thing.

Alameda Neighborhood Haunted House
The Alameda Neighborhood Association hopes you’ll come out to their first annual haunted house at the end of this month! They’ve planned 400 square feet of creepy fun at NE 28th between Dunkley and Bryce from 5-8:30pm. Admission is FREE and the witches and goblins will be specifically created with younger kids in mind. Of course, they’ll have LOADS of candy too!
