This month’s regular meeting of the King Neighborhood Association dealt with a full agenda of big issues related to the safety and livability of our community. Packed with high-profile guests, the discussion ran long past the scheduled meeting time. As a result, a discussion of KNA’s application to PSU to help facilitate a youth mural project next summer was not held. The deadline for application is prior to the December meeting. The application will be discussed and finalized at this meeting so it can be submitted by December 6th. This special meeting will be held November 24th at Fuel Cafe, 1452 Northeast Alberta Street, at 5:30 pm. Anyone is welcome but only board members can vote.
I read over the grant application and it sure sounds to me like a great project. There are few more important things than giving young people positive opportunities. I support this grant app and applaud those who worked on it. I would really love to see something like this happen. I was especially happy to see inclusion of a youth survey to determine what teens are actually interested in. Also, it looks to have a reasonable and achievable scope and goals. In general, it looks to me like this project was put together by someone who knows what they’re doing. Bravo. So, who do we have to thank for this work? (it’s probably in there, I just didn’t see whose involved in it.)
New board member Maureen Mimiaga prepared the application. If anyone wants to make suggestions or volunteer to help the project, I would encourage attendance at the meeting.
