Artists Seek Interesting Portland Relationship Stories

Two Pittsburgh artists seek pairs or groups of Portland locals to participate in city-wide art project, We Were Here. We Were Here is a tour of places throughout Portland, Oregon where intimately connected friends, lovers, relations, and other significant partners first met. On Sunday, May 15, the pairs will share a dance in the location where they first met, with musical accompaniment, while sharing the story of their relationship with the public.

Art on Alberta Seeks Artists to Exhibit in Trailer

Art on Alberta is seeking exhibit proposals in all media for their brand new Mobile Trailer Gallery for monthly shows between June 2011–January 2012. They will select 6 artists to showcase, each for a month-long exhibition in the Alberta Arts District and selected points beyond.

King Farmers Market Set to Open May 1

From Portland Farmers Market:

King Market kicks off its third season on Sunday, May 1. The market will be open Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., near the intersection of NE 7th Avenue and Wygant Street, in the parking lot adjacent to King School Park. This market will be open until Sunday, October 30, 2011.
New King Market vendors for 2011 include:
• Eatin’ Alive, a bicycle-powered mobile vending station that believes in harnessing raw energy in both transport and cooking. A Portland-based company, they use all organic, locally grown produce to create seasonal, freshly prepared raw snacks such as: seed and nut pates, wild crafted pesto, garden wraps, a variety of prepared salads, and delicious sweet treats. N/NE History & Storytelling

A remarkable group of individuals have come together over two meetings at Reflections Coffee and Talking Drum Bookstore to plan an inter-generational exchange between community elders and King School students. Students in the Schools Uniting Neighborhoods program on Tuesdays and Thursdays over the next 5 weeks will learn from community members about their experiences growing food, living in N/NE, neighborhood changes overtime, and what it means to have a community garden in King Neighborhood today.

Students will be taking the stories and lessons they learn and creating art that will then go at the Emerson Garden site.
