Solar Oregon Executive Director, Markus Stoffel presents the story of how the convergence of community activism and solar installation incentives resulted in a collective effort to lower energy consumption. The data that comes out of the PV installations, energy efficient new construction and retrofitting can help you fashion similar projects in your own community.

Seating is limited, so register early! Goal Net Zero (GNZ) Interest Group discussions are a great follow up for anyone that has attended a past GNZ tour or just wanting to learn more about net zero concepts, design and building science. The group has been meeting monthly.

Participants should register for each meeting separately. Each meeting cost $5.00 for dues paying Solar Oregon members and $10.00 for non-members.

PPS High Schools Adopt ‘Exchange Slot’ System

Effective this fall, students who want to attend out-of-neighborhood comprehensive high schools will be able to take the place of students who transfer from those schools. The King Neighborhood comprehensive school is now Grant High School. King residents in the King School attendance boundary also have priority to enroll in the new Jefferson Middle College.

NECN Land Use Meeting

The NECN Land Use and Transportation Committee meets Wednesday, February 23rd at 7:00pm at the NECN Office.

A key event the LUTC is planning right now is a Public Forum on the Columbia River Crossing with your Elected Officials. While government officials are still being confirmed, please save the date of Monday, March 7th, 7:00 – 9:00pm at Concordia University . This forum will give Neighborhood Associations and other community members a chance to state their perspective on the planning of the CRC project, and hear responses from your representatives. We encourage joining together with your own Neighborhood Association, or even your Association’s Land Use and Transportation Committee to help craft a statement. This event is co-sponsored by the Concordia Neighborhood Association and NECN.
