If you are interested in remaining in your home as you age, now is the time to start planning. Whether you are a home owner, renter, share housing with family or others, the Village may be just what you’re looking for.

 

North Star Village is hosting Village at Home talks introducing the local Village Movement and how Villages support folks to remain in the homes they love and the familiar neighborhoods they cherish. It’s called “aging in place” and is a national movement responding to the need for services so folks can age comfortably and safely at home.

KNA is having an emergency meeting to discuss an urgent land use issue: the recently announced demolition of 4023 NE 7th Avenue.

New demolition rules go into effect this week.

On February 12, 2015, the Portland City Council adopted Demolition Task Force recommendations in response to community requests for increased notification to abutting residences prior to commencement of residential demolitions and large remodel projects. These changes to Portland City Code Title 24, Building Regulations, that are effective April 20, 2015, will expand notification and delay requirements for residential demolition permits and create a new Major Residential Alteration and Addition (MRAA) permit type with notification and delay requirements. In addition, applicants will be required to submit a Certification Regarding Asbestos and Lead-Based Paint form for these types of projects prior to permit issuance.

Gardening, Coffee and Donuts @ King Neighborhood

Next Saturday, April 25th, from 10 to 1 pm

A bit of rain won’t deter any good Portlander, especially when there is free good coffee and donuts. Plus you get to shovel some dirt and mulch to feel less guilty about that extra donut that you shouldn’t have eaten.

Thanks to East Multnomah Water and Soil Conservation District, North East Coalition of Neighborhoods, King Neighborhood association, King School PTA  and Groundworks, the Green King Project is organizing this awesome community event to honor our Mother Earth.

Get to enjoy the fun and the good feeling that comes from changing some ugly neglected areas into beautiful green areas. Don’t miss this opportunity to help out your community, meet your neighbors, do some healthy exercise.  Please RSVP if you can.
